After spending 20 years in the Swiss banking industry, Mike Baur decided to begin investing in start-up companies. It quickly became clear that even though many of the start-ups had promise, often the people involved with them needed more training if the companies were to do well. Rather that simply invest in other types of companies, Baur decided he would help as many Swiss start-ups as he could to succeed. So in 2014, the then 39 year old got together with two friends and co-founded Swiss Startup Factory. The company is now Switzerland’s top rated new business incubator.

At Swiss Startup Factory Mike Baur and his team select several start-ups each year and put them through an intense, comprehensive training program. They are provided with financing and taught about marketing, taxes, Information Technology, meeting payroll, advanced business management techniques and many other essential areas. Baur and his friends also provide mentoring, support services and office space in the heart of Zurich. Once the start-ups complete the program, they are introduced to an international network of entrepreneurs and investors to help them to prosper.

Mike Baur also works with a number of other organizations to help as many young Swiss entrepreneurs as he can. Baur’s ultimate goal is to ensure the health and vitality of the Swiss economy for years to come while providing Swiss entrepreneurs with the support they need. It’s a noble endeavor and his success has garnered coverage from newspapers, magazines, news organizations and major media companies all over the world. This has helped Mike Baur’s actions to inspire many other people to do the same. For Mike Baur, his actions were designed to help young people’s business dreams come true like his had.

When he was a child, Baur dreamed of becoming a banker and financier. He earned MBAs from the University of Bern and the University of Rochester. The financial institution UBS also hired him as a commercial apprentice. Mike Baur went on to have a very successful career in the banking industry and was even on the board of directors of a major Swiss bank before he was 40 years old. So he had his dream come true and with Swiss Startup Factory and his other endeavors on behalf of young Swiss entrepreneurs, Mike Baur has found a way for others to enjoy the level of success he has had to good fortune to experience.
